Channelview ISD to Open First Fine Arts Magnet at Crenshaw Elementary in 2025-2026, Announces New Campus Name and Principal
March 25, 2025– Channelview ISD is excited to announce the launch of its first Fine Arts Magnet, set to open in the 2025-2026 school year at Crenshaw Elementary. The school will be named New Horizons Fine Arts Magnet at Crenshaw Elementary. This campus will offer students a well-rounded education that blends rigorous academics with a rich fine arts curriculum, fostering creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
At the Fine Arts Magnet students will receive high-quality instruction in core subjects such as reading, math, science, and social studies while also exploring music, theater, dance, and visual arts. This hands-on, engaging approach ensures that students are not only academically prepared but also encouraged to develop their artistic expression and problem-solving skills. No prior fine arts experience is required—the New Horizons Fine Arts Magnet is designed to nurture creativity in all learners, regardless of their background in the arts. Students who are not currently attending Crenshaw will be required to apply to participate in the Fine Arts Magnet program.
