Paraprofessional of the Year: Ms. Angela Garza

Hello! My name is Angela Garza, originally from Houston, Texas. I have had the opportunity to serve in Channelview ISD for 12 years at Channelview High School beginning in the 2012-2013 school year. Initially, I was employed as a special services clerk, supporting students with unique needs for four years. Then I transitioned to the front office staff under the leadership of Mrs. Cynthia Benitez. This experience inspired me to grow professionally and navigate new challenges. As a result of hard work and dedication, I was promoted to an Administrative Assistant where I learned new skills by managing important tasks. Honestly, the best thing about my work at Channelview High School is the opportunity to positively influence our students! I am excited for my future at CVISD. I love the fact that my children are in school in this district, the school band, football games, etc., and I truly cherish the friendships that I have made at CVISD.

Rising Star of the Year: Mr. Zihong He

It has been my 2nd year in Education and my very 1st year in the Channelview ISD family. I'm proud to say that I'm a graduate from Channelview High School and it feels great to be back in the community doing my part to help the students. Teachers here inspired me to be who I am today and I vowed to do the same to my students. Shout out to my Math Department as they tirelessly help me throughout the year so I can meet the standard and exceed beyond. Thank you so much for the recognition. And also my favorite class is PE.

I have qualified students to TFA State and UIL State every year in Policy Debate, Student Congress, Prose Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, and Lincoln Douglas Debate and finally, this year, a student has qualified for the National Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa this coming up June. I earned my Bachelor's degree from the University of West Florida in Organizational Business Communication with a specialization in Management & Leadership. After earning my bachelor's degree, I worked in a myriad of Management and Sales positions in Florida and Alabama before finally moving to Texas and getting my alternative teaching certification in 2009 through A+ Texas Teachers.
