We are extremely proud to announce that high school seniors Jayce Sumbera and Steve Nunez, both CTE Automotive students, have been selected as the first cohort of students to study Diesel Technology at SelecTechnical Institute.
On April 25, CTE Automotive students and their parents participated in a Work-Based Learning Field Trip to SelecTechnical Institute. During this trip, they toured the facilities and learned about the opportunities available at the Diesel Mechanic School. The first cohort of students will start their studies in June 2024.
This pioneering program offers numerous benefits to its students. Selected students will receive free tuition, be paid $14 per hour while attending school, and will be guaranteed a job upon completing the program. This initiative is designed to provide students with valuable hands-on experience and a clear pathway to a successful career in diesel technology.
Channelview ISD is proud to announce that Aleyda Hernandez, an 11th-grade student enrolled in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Law Enforcement program, has been chosen for a highly coveted summer internship at the Harris County Criminal Court. Aleyda will be interning in the 180th Criminal District Court under the esteemed Judge DaSean Jones.
Aleyda's journey to this opportunity began in April, when she participated in a Work-Based Learning shadowing field trip to Judge Jones' courtroom. During this visit, Judge Jones recognized Aleyda's potential and extended an invitation for her to apply to his summer internship program. After a competitive selection process, Aleyda was chosen to be part of this prestigious program.
Throughout the summer, Aleyda will have the invaluable experience of working directly with Judge Jones, his staff, and fellow interns. Her responsibilities will include engaging in legal research, writing memoranda, preparing work for court proceedings, drafting opinions and orders, and observing trials. This hands-on experience will provide Aleyda with a deep understanding of the judicial process and the workings of a criminal court.
Aleyda's selection for this internship not only highlights her academic and professional excellence but also underscores the quality of the educational programs offered at Channelview High School. This opportunity will undoubtedly serve as a stepping stone for Aleyda as she pursues her aspirations in the field of law enforcement and the judicial system.

Breaking News:
6th Grade spots have now been added: It is 2 weeks of fun for current 2nd-6th Grade GT students. Cost is $35.00. Breakfast, lunch, and transportation are included.
Parents need to complete the Google Form and they can get a registration packet from the administration building anytime this week. Payment and forms can be turned in on the first day of camp at Channelview High School on June 17, 2024.
